Membership Policy

Members of the Coral Specialist Group are volunteer experts and their membership is by invitation and based on demonstrated expertise in coral biology, ecology, and conservation. To ensure the group maintains a high standard of knowledge and impact, members are selected for their active contributions to research, education, and advocacy in coral conservation.

Membership is evaluated every four years, coinciding with the IUCN World Conservation Congress cycle. Members are expected to remain actively engaged in the group's initiatives, contributing to its mission of advancing coral conservation through scientific, advocacy, education and practical means.
